Where it all started...

Around 1920, Chon Muniz and began a family ranch. This ranch was home to his family and a successful farming and ranching enterprise. He amassed a ranch that would provide for his family for many years. Today it continues to be operated by his grandson, Rudi R. Rodriguez.

Ranch Development

The continued building and improvements on the ranch have ranged from a weekend retreat to Tractor and hay barns, cattle pens and horse stables. A Hunter’s Patio almost two hundred feet long is nestled under a continuous canopy of two-hundred-year-old oaks.

An Observation Tower has been completed to provide wonderful vistas of the northern hill country and provides evening respites and dinner by candlelight. In the future, a Ranch Lodge and a Zip-line will be constructed.  The current generation, along with family, friends and ranch hands has been responsible for all these improvements.

Wildlife

Wildlife has always been an essential part of the ranch as in years past harvest of the game produced part of the diet for family and workers. In the past, abundant White-tail Deer, Rio Grande Turkey, and Feral Hogs were harvested on the ranch. Also, a large number of migratory birds including Sand Hill Cranes populated the ranching fields. Today, the number of wildlife has declined along with the number of animals harvested. Yet, the need to manage wildlife ratios to field and feed remains a challenge. As such, we have implemented wildlife management practices that include supplemented feeding and inventory reporting. We continue to evaluate all species of wildlife to ensure a more beneficial environment for all game animals.
